How to modify an ETIAS authorization
Once obtained, an ETIAS authorization cannot be modified. However, solutions do exist if certain information needs to be updated, or if changes occur in your personal or travel data. Here’s everything you need to know.
Can an existing ETIAS authorization be modified?
The short answer is NO. An ETIAS authorization cannot be directly modified once it has been approved.
- The information provided at the time of application is saved and cannot be corrected or updated;
- If any information changes or contains errors, it is necessary to submit a new ETIAS application.
When should I submit a new ETIAS application?
You must renew or redo your ETIAS application in the following situations:
1. Loss or renewal of passport
The ETIAS authorization is electronically linked to your passport for Europe. If your passport is lost, stolen or renewed, the ETIAS authorization becomes invalid. You must apply for a new ETIAS with your new passport.
2. Change of personal information
Some changes to the personal information you entered to obtain the ETIAS require a new application:
- Change of surname or first name (e.g. marriage).
- Change your nationality.
- Error in initial data supplied.
3. Changes to safety data
Changes in your security or health situation may require you to renew an ETIAS, for example: a recent criminal or medical history, or travel to high-risk areas since your last application.
